this thread should have been named "Directories with unique and original design".
now everybody places his directory here made out of a category dump and a free template as being the best looking directory. Checkout on http://www.all-linkdirectory a original, nice looking design

when I'll have the time I'll integrate a image rotator and place many icons there, so the page would look different every time someone reloads the page

 

All of the sites I have rejected are on that site

 

I am just going to launch my (last) paid directory. Please have a look at Web Directory and tell me whether it is good or bad or UGLY.

 

I saw that at the Queen's domain.....One word. Whoa!!! Nice Flavor and when I get sometime I will add it to TBD.

Actually does it really matters a lot as regards to the web design for a directory?

 

Having nice unique design is really important if you want to increase sales.
Let's compare 3 pr5 directories:2 with default template and 3rd with good looking unique one. Guess which one will have more link sales?
It is not what you know(pr etc.), it is what you see.

My Global Web Links Directory is unique in design and programming.. I'm not saying its beautiful, but it is a little different which could count for some

 

I always thought you had a nice custom directory. Even from the days back when I had submittted ActiveWebLinks.com to it. I am just wondering why are all of the lower links now nofollow ? :/

 

Hehe, this is something I have to explain alot. Some time back I wrote this post about my nofollow usage.
It is only done to uphold a good and strong dir, and I truely belive this is good for both me and my submitters in the broad view. And it is still going through testing. I have simular directories where I do it without the nofollow and the pages have a much bigger % of supplemental results as many directories suffer from.
I dont think this could work for any directory, but my special build and usage of subdomains, this has testet to work great.

And just to clear it out.. Everyone has direct outgoing (seo friendly etc) links from my directory. I provide people with total 5-7 outgoing links from my site. (Standard listings get theirs nofollowed on category)
