If you want to know what Google prefers, take a look at how their blogger does permalinks freshdames.blogspot.com/2005/08/2005-teen-choice-awards-winners-list.html I'd been experimenting with dashes and underscores for nearly a year to see the difference in SERP; the underscore does okay, but the dash wins hands down.
