Anybody know of any good link exchange sites? Preferably one with a large user base?

It's not a good idea, try get links from a web site with related backlinks and less out bound links source.

Anything automated in terms of link building is not recommended for Google rankings. If you decide using reciprocal links, try doing the task manually by contacting the webmasters directly.

 

What's good for me may be useless to you, it's all about relevance. Have a look, find sites relevant to yours, contact the webmaster and wait for a reply. However, I wouldn't rely on link exchange too heavily.

 

I'm just looking for a site that acts like a middleman. I'll post up an ad about my site and it's statistics, and other webmasters that have sites within my niche looking for backlinks would respond. It's a manual process, it just eliminates me going to have to contact each webmaster with a site in my niche who may or may not be interested in trading links with me. Everybody benefits from a site like that.

I constantly hear that links are only useful if they are related to your niche - and that mass linking is not a great idea. But then I take a look at a couple of my competitors and see that they have 1500 links to their site and when I check on Google, many of them are from link directories. Hmm...

wow..it's a great idea to gain more links within few days but remember it will not work and you will certainly lose your search engine ranking, It' the myth while using link exchange or buying high PR links. Google will slash your site within few days and you will get penalty.
So, don't do that and write good content and join several forums and give your links in signature to gain more quality backlinks.
