I don't want to know specifics, but I keep getting people asking me about what the best method of link building is and we all know that the most quality links and the most techniques you use the better your link building will be. I will start with what I think is the best method. In content article links - because your links have a theme around them from the content blog comments - as long as the article you are commenting is based around your keyword phrase forum posting - great way to get traffic here and there, but again forums has to be themed around your phrase article directories - Great way to get your site out there, but usually takes a while for big directories to approve a new site. That is my list, feel free to add what you would say is the best methods and why?
building backlinks via good and unique content is the best method alongside forum commenting, blog commenting..
I disagree, Blog commenting can be a great tool if you pick the right blogs and actually write helpful replies. Just don't comment on blogs that have nothing to do with your site. Also quit doing the short spam response, because it is ruining blog comments for everyone.. Avoid comments like Thanks Great Post! Try to actually read the blog and actually post useful information, you will be surprised at the results.
From an SEO standpoint, I think that blog and forums comments have some value, although it is likely to be very minimal. Writing and creating unique, useful content, products, or services that others find useful, and having them link to your site, is likely the most valuable source of links. Then again, unless we work for Google, Yahoo, or Bing, there is really no way to tell which links are actually worth more. The best practice is to find a wide variety of link sources and to do it naturally, aka no spamming, and no automated programs.
So it seems like the majority of people agree that blog commenting and forum posting are still good methods, but like CIKMarketing said, nobody knows unless you work for google, bing, and yahoo so it isn't like we have a correct answer. Keep them coming this is great. I am reassuring my methods and I hope others are as well.
Blog Commenting and forum posting are excellent methods if relevancy and value is added to your writing.
All of your points are valuable, there are also some other link building method, if you are promotion shopping related site then there are so many social shopping site where you can submit your products and can get relevant link. I know that .edu and .gov links are comparatively much more valuable, but it is tough to get link from them. But you can try for it if you are crazy on building quality link.
For me, blogging and article sharing are the best link building techniques I've been using ever since.
The best thing IMO is to not put all your eggs in one basket. SEO is not an exact science and a ton of different factors are considered for getting high SERPS. The best link building method for one site can be the worst for another, however I have realized that google has taken a huge swing towards keyword relevance. Write quality content that others want to link to without even realizing it and make relevant backlinks with good authority sites. Personally my favorite is article marketing, since I am a writer and webmaster by trade! I love to learn about new subjects, which has helped me in my online ventures. The best advice for me to give you is to create a diverse link building plan based on relevance, diversity, and user interaction. I promise the better the content you give your users, the more they will want from you!
Yes it's good if your are trying to establish a relationship with owner and get a real link from him. But the link in the comment itself is worthless.
yes, actually blog comment are the best choice if all those blogs are good in pagerank and dofollow backlinks.
but nowadays, most good forums do not allow external links in signature and self promotions. So how do you promote your website in those forums?
i just build some blogspot.com blogs, or squidoo and put some copy/paste articles...build some backlinks (even from pages with 200 comments) and then just let them to be pick up by google just my method
I personally like press releases, the main advantage is that single press release can get syndicated to many other sites, blogs etc resulting in more backlinks and traffic.
Directory submissions can be also helpful. Do not expect too much, but if you have the right tools to automate directory submissions then you can get good ROI.
