Which link building method worked best for you? I thought it would be useful for everyone to share experience by replying to that question. Your participation is really appreciated. If you don't want to give details, please don't forget to vote for what you found the most effective - you can choose more than one. As for me, 1. I got a link on a high PR, .edu website in the past and it pushed me miles ahead before it got punished and I lost its strength. 2. In the second place comes blog comments. Using it for some sites calmly, I got very good SERP results. How about you? I forgot to add Angela's method to the poll but the maximum number is 10 already. Also, I forgot blog comments.
Very interesting thread, I think the results will be varied as all these methods can be useful for different niches
I do tend to prefer article submission, especially to sites that are not article directories. Saying that though, I think we should use all the methods, at least to some extent, in order to have a varied link profile that will better stand up to changes in algorithms.
I choose all of those because I think all of those link building method is effective when you did it in a proper way. Also you must put your links in a different varieties of sites not only focusing in several link building.
I prefer to go for article submission. you get a long term benefit whether you are promoting an affiliate product or your own websites/blogs.
social bookmarking has actually worked very well for me so far! I have more than doubled my traffic since starting.
I think link wheel is best system to build links. though it's a sophistecated to do you can get good results
Good thread indeed. But you dint mention directory submission (this is also very good). If you have money blog post is the best in my opinion, because it gives very good SERP result and can boost PR too.
For me it has to be articles, bookmark the articles, build a few link wheels. From the link wheels; link to the articles and to my main blog. Then bookmark the link wheels and update the posts every few days, sending new links to my main blog. Some more bookmarking (not just the main site but the inner pages) Keep doing this and you will get good targeted traffic, even if your niche sucks...
You register for a new user at the famous sites which allow registration (like excite.com) and place a link in your profile or add a post or anything with your link.
i expected for link exchange but was not expecting for article submission to be getting among high scorers
My 2 favorites are article submission because you can write one article and then submit it to 30,000 article directories. And the second is video submission because you can have as many fri_ing links you want in your description and no one nabs you for spamming. Correct me if I am wrong.
Merit-Based Links that are earned work best for me. As well as everyone else I've taught. Seriously, the link building methods posted above are minnows compared to the trophy fish that are merit-based links.
i think every link has its power depends on what your website is and how many competors. I like article submission and blog commenting good quality backlinks for little effort.
voted it! If you are serious about your Web presence, getting listed in directories like DMOZ and Yahoo is a must - not only because this is a way to get some quality backlinks for free, but also because this way you are easily noticed by both search engines and potential visitors. Generally inclusion in search directories is free but the drawback is that sometimes you have to wait a couple of months before you get listed in the categories of your choice.
