    People use different forms techniques as link bait. e.g. free tool, fun topics, etc etc. Which one works better; in your opinion?

    Making questionaires, such as "what footie player are you" then giving the result as a forum sig works well.

    Give them a really good free tip, and then have it continue on to your site. Or, "Click here for 3 more ways...."

    If you are in a celeb gossip site, put in a quiz or something interesting about the stars.

    Same for guys, but make it about fishing, sports....

    I think the free tip is the best. If the tip is really good and you tell people that you have a great example at your blog, then that's something I'll go for.

    Anything controversial that hasn't been broken yet and can be cited from an authoritative source...

    I know, I know its not easy but it can be useful for 1,000+ links per story
