I have heard Compaq Pressario is good cheap in price and performance also not bad. what is your opinion about that? my uncle is planning to buy a laptop and has asked for my suggestion personally i would have gone for IBM but it is a bit high priced for him what do you all think?

Add in shipping, and I assume you have a monitor that you can plug in, and you've got a great box for your money. Let us know if they are available outside the US
Go for Lenovo N100 series laptop. My firend bought one recently. Here is the config: 1.86 Ghz. Core Solo Processor 512MB RAM DDR2 60 GB HDD 15.4 Inch Wide WSXGA screen DVD Writer Inbuilt Camera Bluetooth Card Reader WiiFii (a/b/g) 6 Cell Battery He bought it for 45,000 + TAX (We have 4% here, not sure about your area). And got a Kingston 1GB USB drive free with it along with a SERA Broadband Card.
