Problem: I want to be able to find where a site ranks on all the various keywords that they are targeting. Q: Is there a site or tool that enables me to find where I rank that is kept up to date? Thanks.
Rankings change day to day... Min to min. You can can buy tools like iBusinessPromoter (IBP) and WebPosition Gold... I would recommend not pulling rankings more frequently than once per week. Otherwise, it's like watching grass grow. Note, if you get caught by Google pulling rankings with an automated tool (it's a violation of their Webmaster Guidelines to use automated tools to query Google w/out their permission) then they will likely ban your entire IP address block for 24 hours. A previous SEO at my company decided to write his own and didn't put a throttle between each query. Google banned our entire Class C IP block from accessing Google for 24 hrs. No one at our company could access it. But the better tools you buy like the ones above will allow you to set some fixed amount of time between each query and add in some random amount of seconds to make it look like a human.
Thanks for your response. Interesting to hear of what happened with your company. So basically its not possible without some software and even then its a little borderline as to whether google allow it or not. Cheers,
There are many free keyword tool from where you can get keyword idea related to your product/services/website. For example: google keyword tool, google trends, wordtracker, spyfu, tools.seobook.com/keyword-tool etc. They all have different purpose... some are better for comparing the keywords/keyphrases.
It's definitely against Google's Webmaster Guidelines and Terms of Use to use automated tools to check ranks in bulk. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. Most sites that care about SEO do it to track progress... Just proceed carefully and at your own risk. I didn't address keyword analysis... That is a different problem to tackle w/ very different solutions... I only spoke to checking rankings at the engines in BULK for numerous keywords/keyword phrases. There are LOTS of tools for doing this. Typically no one tool will give you what you need... One free tool from Google that I find very useful is Google Insights (http://www.google.com/insights/search). You can give it a head term that is related to your site and it will tell you the top 10 related most searched phrases as well as the top 10 related search phrases that are on the rise(though not in necessarily in the top 10 by volume of searchs). You can then drill down on the Top 10 phrases and find longer tail phrases. Then drill down on those Top 10 phrases and find even more longer tail phrases. You can enter 5 search phrases at the top and they will show you their volume of search relative to one another. However, the tool doesn't give you an exact number of searches for each phrase. It's relative. If you use Google Adwords you can get exact number of searches by keyword phrases in their AdWords tool. There are numerous keyword suggestion tools that will help you come up with various of keyword phrases that you might want to try to rank for. If you have access to Hitwise, it's an excellent tool for seeing what keywords people are using to find your site (or better yet, to find your competitors' sites). You can use keyword density tools to see which keyword phrases appear most on various pages on your site which might help you decide which phrases the page has a best chance of ranking for. You can then adjust on-page factors like <title>, <h1>, etc. to strengthen the likelihood that you rank for those terms... Lots of options there.
There are so many tool for keyword research just like google adword tool, word tracker tool etc. but according to me word tracker is most useful for keyword research and mostly persons are use it...
I used Rank Checker a couple of times and it seems to work pretty well. It will check different countries and keywords in different languages and see how you rank. The free version won't allow you to save your results but I just took a screenshot to compare to a few weeks later. Hope this helps!
I use some google SERP tool to find some specific keyword. Or you can use google webmaster as a tool or to analyze your rank. And I guess if you could understand and know how to analyze you statistic on google webmaster it will solve everything
Just think all day long. Sometimes it just comes to you. For example, last night I was eating Chinese food and I happened to glance at a fortune cookie. I thought about possible niche site dedicated to fortune cookies, how to make them, etc... After doing research though, I saw it wasn't an in-demand niche.
