    Google Adwords would be the best free keyword research tool. Remember that, you're using Google as a platform to do internet marketing projects and certainly Google knows which keywords that most searched. The key of success is, do a deeper analysis on your targeted keywords.

    I use the Google Adsense suggestion tool to look for relative volumes. I use the webmaster tools search of Google analytics. I have used many other tools historicallly but they seem to have a short shelf life. For competitive work, I've used Spyfu (last year).

    I always use google keyword tool, more simple, free and practical. You can analyze in a more profound for the keywords you want.
