You are seeking answer's for too many questions. First: WebScrible Im not so aware about this script and never used it. Second: Jamit Job board is Indeed a good one, very easy to customize.
We have used ejobsitesoftware for our jobsite www.jobenvoy.com and the experience was excellent. Today jobenvoy is the leading website in its category and geographic market. We even made lot of modifications and the support was great.
I checked out the problem with cgarchitect.com jobs site. He is using a complex php/mysql application on a windows platform, that too on a shared server. No wonder the application is giving problems. My experience is that unless you are a coder yourself, you should never experiment as they are not compatible.
Have you tried Recruta Job Boards - www.recruta.co.uk full content management, full job board including jobs bt email and candidate registration 0 fully hosted service - very cheap to just £45 per month
you can use joomla (with inka component) . it's a free job component for joomla. you can make your job site with the power of joomla
That Component has lots of bugs and urls structure is bad, not sure it is adding metatag and keywords to new pages. I was using it once, just waiting for his new version to come out.
Hi all, Just thought I would post an update about aynsoft (ejobsitesoftware.com)and some of the posts here. Due to the site we put up http://www.job-board-software.info/ and the post on this forum we have received a lot of emails asking us for more information, which we are happy to provide given how poor of an experience we had. On Friday June 3rd, we received an email from someone who we thought was someone considering using aynsoft. We replied, as we normally do, to answer questions about our experience. On June 9th, this same individual emailed us back from a yahoo email account claiming to be a representative of aynsoft, accusing us of many things ,not the least of which was a threat if we did not stop telling people about our experience and to take down our website. I quote: "Or no efforts will be spared to take this case to its logical conclusion." We are now looking into someone else to program our job board as we continue to run into problems, which they refuse to fix depite promising lifetime support. I should also like to reply to george456, who I can only assume is an aynsoft employee given how similar his post is to the threat email we received. We are not running on a shared server and in fact we have a dedicated database server. And running PHP and mySQL on windows is not a problem, as properly coded applications like vBulletin (a commercial forum software) for example are run on thousands of windows servers all over the world without problems. The problem is poorly coded applications. We moved to a new server 2 weeks ago and we were down for 1 week due to the extremely poor coding practices they use. I had to hire a PHP developer to troubleshoot their sloppy code. So, end of the day, who you choose to use to program your job baord is ultimately up to you, but I feel it my obligation to share the experience we had and continue to have with aynsoft. As always, if you would like more information about our experience, please sent me an email on the site above. Cheers, Jeff
Wow, that really sucks Jeff. If they are refusing to give support, honestly I would file a claim with the BBB and definitely continue to pursue other options for job boards. I'm not sure if posting about these issues on your job board is a good idea or not. It is your right to talk about a bad experience you had on your own site, but it might give potential customers the wrong idea about how stable your site is. I say if they keep being jerks about the whole situation, remind them of your legal rights. You can also have a lawyer send them a letter. It shows you're serious about your business, that you know your rights and won't be bullied by some company that can't even write software properly. Hope that everything turns out great Griffin
if anyone knows any light weight job boards (more like joomla/wordpress style) like http://ww.combtail.com please tell me. Thanks.
I just bought WebJobs by Webscribble and found out the same thing. I was hoping it would be more customizeable like their earlier product Webdate.
I am setting up a jamit board now. The software is good. There is a lot that can be customized. I have spent 2 weeks customizing it. Their tech support has been good. The Admin panel is set up to customize the text of all the pages. There must be hundreds of words/phrases/sentences that can be changed. Some have misspelled words that need to be corrected. The problems I have had are trying to make the board do additional things that it was not designed for. This has been very challenging, but I am making progress. I have customized all the pages with my own rollover navigation, banner and DIV sections. It cost $200. If anyone needs a board and does not know how to customize, I could do this for you for a reasonable price. I can send a link to my board so you can see how well it can be customized. I have been so immersed in its pages/structure. I could customize a site quickly. If it were not for my extra coding needs, I would give it an 8.5 out of 10 stars.
I have diesel job site v1.4 and it looks nice and quite friendly to use in. I also have the prozilla version of job site. Anyone you like just ask me...
I have a job site http://www.indianjobshunt.com. I bought the script for $349 and did some paid customizations to it. Due to lack of time, I am planning to sell it for the basic $349 I paid. If interested please pm me.
You should look at this hosted solution especially if you have any CSS skills: www.edgeio.com Cheers! Chris
Hello, I recently bought a script from combtail.com to use as a job posting service. The instructions seemed easy enough for me to install however it did not work. The install.php file shows up blank! Although I have no formal training, I am quick to catch on. I just got a server with Plesk running linux and php with zend is on there too. Is there anyone who may know why this would happen? Thank you!
I operate a new job board in Asia. I've found a lot of the off the shelf scripts back end and functionality is good, I myself purchased joblite in the UK. The problem is in the maintenance. In addition, since they are mostly provided by Indian developers, they are highly functional but lacking the web 2.0 feeling of modern websites and higher end design. They look very blocky and hard to read. Payment solutions are integrated but they just don't work when you need to customise your website to your needs. All the above will turn off a lot of jobseekers and employers. In the end we had to develop our own solution, which took one year! Furthermore, the problem with off the shelf job boards are many do not have any annotation at all, resulting in minor bugs becoming major issues. Also, when you want to customize the script you run a high risk of breaking the code in other places. A lot of the key code is encoded further limiting your business development. In the end a lot of people waste their time and money. You just need to look at the sample sites provided by these job board providers to see that few are successful in the long term. I would not recommend purchasing job board software outright if you have a large budget, only as a temporary solution and to test the market. A hosted network solution is the best. If you do purchase due to budget constraints, you must budget for the expense of getting a good designer to work for you and make it into something impressive. The job script is only the beginning, this area is very competitive, you've really got to stand out in both functionality and design to make it into a profitable enterprise.
wow this thread is still alive! Really, jamit job boards is the best job board software out there. You can customize it a lot. They are always upgrading to new versions. I think their latest version now is the one with templates. So that it will be much easier for you to customize it. ^_^ By the way, if any one here wants a customize job boards. You can visit my blog or e-mail me. I'm glad to make you one at a reasonable prize. Specially if your from the Philippines ^_^
