Any new recommendations or updated experiences?

I'm looking to create a comprehensive site so a lot of the "lighter" scripts won't work for me. I was actually interested in erecruitmentsoftware.com until I read the posts earlier in this thread about the sloppy coding, poor support experience, and shopping cart security issues (yikes!). PG Job Site Pro seems pretty good, although I'd like to hear a few more experiences with them. I also like JobMount but their pricing is waaaay out there. Jamit seems like a popular choice, but I'm concerned about comments I've read about SEO, difficulty in customizing the look (and conflicts after upgrades?), and the fact that it's an older platform.

After having created numerous job boards, and having worked in that niche for about 7 years, I think most people are paying more to customize these so called, "one size fits all" scripts than they are paying if they were to just have a script built for their particular business model on an extensible framework that will grow with your business.

Every single one of these scripts carry a huge number of features that you will never use, yet are paying for. And a huge number of bugs, problems, security holes and a large learning curve come built in because of it.

The process usually goes something like this...

Search through feature sets, find something close and say, "Awesome program, it only costs XXX.XX and does everything I want to do, except this, this, and this -- how much would it cost to put those features in?"

    Reality goes like this...
"Oh geez, these features don't work like I thought, looks like I'll be paying to tweak those. I'll spend another XXXX.XX to tweak those features and coherce them into what I want too. Oh, look here's a separate system that has those other features I wanted, lets try to integrate the two. Oh, shoot this is beginning to be a huge mess... I've got forums over here, review system here, private messaging and live chat here, my support tickets come through this system, and I have an ad management tool this way. Yeah, the whole thing needs to be redone... lets start over."

This might have been a better idea...
You can head this off, by starting with JUST the things you need, and building them on a framework that grows easily with your business - as you need it. I suggest you stop paying for features you won't ever use, and instead work with someone who will build the tools that get the results. You'll gain a focus that makes much more business sense, as you will stop trying to do 100 things, and instead do the 1 thing that works, as development costs will force your focus. Achieve the results and you will take your business in directions you never dreamed of during this endless search for the right set of features.

The process should have went like this...

    1. What is my lead product (my attention grabber)? (free job postings? extraordinary profiles? resume writing service? , etc)

    2. What are my upsells? (featured listings? resume searches? applicant tracker?, etc)

    3. What will it cost to have my lead product and one upsell developed?

    4. Develop, rollout, test, track results.

    5. Did the business model work? If yes, build on. If no, drop and change lead product.

Any new thoughts on this? I've been through the whol thread but it goes back five years now so all the software must have moved on. It still seems though that Jamit and Webscribble are popular and that Jobberbase is also gaining interest.

Has anyone got thoughts on the currently 'best in class'?

Come on guys, I can't believe after such a long thread over the last few years that things haven't moved on???

From the research I've done joblite seems to be generally popular with it's existing users. A couple of webscribble/ jobs users seemed very disappointed with that product.

Ive been searching for a job board but seem to keep going in circles. I really like the ejobsitesoftware but was reading that poor review on the company which has made me think twice. Has anyone dealt with them recently. Also from their admin demo it looks like they have built it on oscommerce. Would that mean its easy to implement modules and other payment gateways as oscommerce is?

I have a good hand in java scripts. I think as per you demand you should search for All job websites, and look into it.
