Best image editing software?

    So here I am... I have been on a holiday and some nice pictures have all been captured in my digital camera. I am now thinking of going for printing them. Can anyone suggest me some tools or free softwares by which we can edit those images, like control brightness, resize it, add something creative etc.

    And yes, has anyone ever tried with online printing services? Please share and help...

    I'm a fan of the GIMP.

    www.gimp.org

    It's free, and it's pretty powerful. It's like using Photoshop (although die-hard Photoshoppers might disagree).

    But for everything you want to do, it's there.

    I use it for all web graphics, and even designing ebook covers and software box covers.

    GIMP is by far the best free image editor, rivals Photoshop in its features.

    As for online printing services, well it depends what country you are in. Personally as someone who used to work in a photo shop, I would take them to a bricks and mortar store and get them done well in an hour!

    Well, you can do these simple things from Microsoft picture manager also and it comes with MS Office !! :)

    And for more creativity you can use Photoshop ! :)

    Good luck

    Picasa is a software download from Google that helps you organize, edit, and share your photos. It's free, and easy to use.

    Photoshop is the best, although it's a bit on the expensive side. But you get what you pay for :)

    @all

    Thanks for the replies... Photoshop is great no doubt, but for all those who do not know GIMP software, have a look at it. It is free and I downloaded it yesterday... It almost resembles like small brother of photoshop...;)

    I stick to Photoshop. It does have a steep learning curve, but with all of the free tutorials floating around the net, it isn't too hard to get the hang of, and it gives you limitless possibilities when it comes to touching up images or creating graphic art.
