    Hey all,
i've got a high traffic vBulletin board, with big addons and everything, and was wondering. what would the best HTTPD be for it?
because i think Apache can't handle the load too well....

Get LightHttpd + Xcache + memcache and you are ready to go. :)
Of course, you must have a decent processor + RAM also.

the server is only a basic one..
    Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHZ
    512 MB DDR 400 MHZ
    320 GB IDE HD

not that flash, but it should do the job...

I have always used the apache web server.

Do you have an existing problem that needs to be fixed?

Apache will let you know about most errors and resource limits issues in the error_log file.

Check the error_log for details and if it still doesn't make sense let us know.
