What is the best hosting for $5/month or less? Magmahost is absolute shit. Bandwidth is more important than space. And I'm in the US.

Before asking who to go to, ask yourself what you need, yes bandwidth is important in this case, but are you willing to pay for higher bandwidth and get storage you won't necessarily use? Do your homework, and look at all the options out there, don't go with what I suggest, or what someone else suggests. Do the research, because what works for one person may not work for another.

I guess I'll be pretty specific since as he stated above that is what I should do.

    Needs:
    --Unlimited Add-On Domains (Or 25+)
    --Unlimited FTP Accounts (Or 15+)
    --Unlimited E-Mail Accounts (Or 30+)
    --10+ SQL Databases
    --1GB-2GB File Space
    --Allows PHP/MySQL
    --Custom 404/403 Pages
    --Custom .htaccess
--$5/month or less (preferably less :))

For less than $5/month I recommend HostMonster.

I would recommend against going with HostMonster/BlueHost they are the same company and aren't up to par imho. Take a look at HostGator, you'll get treated better there.

I'm going to ask a simple question. Why?

I'm a small host, and if you ask ANY of my clients, they will differ with you tremendously, and probably tell you that My servers are more reliable than most (not all) big hosts. The reason for that is because we don't have to worry about humpteen million servers and clients. We have a few servers, know our client base, and can therefore give our clients more personalized attention.

I've used HG before, and the whole 24 hours it took me to get a response from their SALES team was ridiculous. Add to that the constant downtime with them while I WAS on shared (Baby Plan) and I finally got fed up with them. Their servers are oversold, and their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

Now I'm not trying to stir up trouble here, but generalized statements like that irk me to no end

Since GCM mentioned a hosting company to stay away from I would like to say who the hosting company that I was talking about in my previous post. Use caution if you plan to use BlueVoda/VodaHost. They caused my a lot of headaches.

PsyberMind - I have never used HG which I'm guessing is Host Gator so I can't say yea or nay to that hosting company.

In part I agree, but if you go with a small company make sure they are legitimate don't just believe everything you see on forums/blogs as I have run into a few hosts who made the blogs and acted as if they were multiple users on forums. This is the reason I say to go with big companies, because you know they are not going to take your money and run. Again I am sure that the vast majority of smaller hosting sites will not rip you off. Just my 2c..

I assume that it will be reasonable to follow Lepud's advice..
I have heard much good related to that host and suppose that it will meet your expectations.

You'd better raise your monthly budget to $7 - $8 per month. This should give you more options and will not make you to choose between a few famous oversellers that underbid the market. What kind of websites do you want you host?

Just that don't pay for 12 month, pay by monthly basic because many fly by night host nowdays.

There are lots of small hosts out there to consider, they can often give you very good support and service quality because they have far less clients to deal with. But the larger hosts may offer more for your money as they can afford the large overheads.
