I do not trust on web hostings established in india, they are far back in time, they are still charging per mb rates while other hostings have moved for unlimited. The quality and support is also very low. The only positive point is that you can go to their office to talk to them and see them. nothing else. I will recommend you to buy from Hostgator if you want a shared plan and do some even more research if you need a dedicated server.
I dont agree with him. Web Hosts in India too are now joining the competition. And they are doing pretty well. So it is for sure that customers are happy with them. Even we are based in India and you can try our service.
In India Hosting are too costly you will see npormal pricing of 200 MB space for $4 per month. But many Indian company offers hosting with their server in USA or UK. I used the host.co.in i feel there are so good because there are the only one indian hosting who provide 24/7 online support and they are too flexible to customer. And also pricing are as cheap as usa Hosting providers. I have my site hosted with them, they are the one of my favorite hosting provider.

I am always amused when people says, someone is giving unlimited space or someone is giving cheap hosting, or when people says Indians are way behind. Unlimited - Nothing is unlimited, you only understand this when you get burned. Cheap - Yes you can get cheap, every market has all kind of customers and all kind of vendors, for cheap customers there are cheap vendors, for premier customers there are premier vendors. Even Indian Railways knows that and give you the option, you want to travel in a general class or AC First Class. Indians are way behind - Most of the foreign Hosting companies, outsource their support and administrators from India. Someone mentioned HostGator - You get those $4.95 kind of price when you prepay for three years, do you want to get bound with a host for 3 years. What if things didn't worked out between two of you. Also, just an observation - If every one in India start buying hosting from Indian providers, you will see price going down while support quality going up, it's all a volume game. And example - Today mobile tariffs are among the lowest in India, it was only few years back that we thought call rates are very high.

Well you have server in USA so it cheap like others and customer support operates from India so you cut lot of cost in that but then so your don't give any discount. i can say your price is good compare to Indian hosting plans but if it compare to rest of the industry its too high.
No its not volume game. Many obsviously don't no much about hosting in india they all ask there designer or friends to host and they do it locally. Second as i said its volume game go and check netfim they host most of the sites in india and have datacenter and customer support in many indian cities. But you at the end there price, user interface and customer service sucks. you don't have control over your domain DNS and were it points to. In india we don't have infrastructure, no high speed broadbands at lower price and above all no healthy competition except netfirm all are chota very very little player who don't have datacenter on their own. Either they have server in rent or get server from foreign datacenter on a built and operate basis.
Infrastructure/low cost etc. do play their role, and that is the main reason why most of the companies from India rent servers from USA or Europe, an not every host from USA own a DC, even HG is hosting in someone else DC. But my argument was about comparing unlimited everything at low cost to those who provide premium services at higher cost. Those who understand how things work and know how those companies selling unlimited every thing, never buy services from them. Also it is upto each business which market segment they are targeting, and there is market for every one. What an unlimited company is earning from 100 clients may be far less than what I am earning from a single client, but then they are happy along with their clients and I am happy along with my clients. Also it's not just India, every where you can find both bad and good service providers, if you will compare there are far more number of fly by night and bad operators in USA than in India. There most of them do that intentionally, whereas here only those fail who have not planned properly or just jumped in without proper knowledge or skills or were unable to stay as most of the users are running to USA based providers. So it all depends on what kind of services and provider you want.
Actually the problem is that providers in India even if they have servers in US or UK then also they don't provide good support and don't answer your questions. For example take Manashosting, I heard a lot of complaints about them and they are very famous. Recently many clients shifted from them to different providers. They don't even provide u control panel for your domain to modify DNS records. You have to ask them.
Actually mostly people have some misconception. First thing, its a fact that most of the hosting companies around the word procure servers from USA based data centers as the cost there is quite low, India is no exception, though many other countries are catching up the competition, like UK, Netherlands, Germany etc. And few new data centers are coming up in India too to fill gap for the generic hosting market, as of now most of the Indian DC are geared more towards corporates and because bandwidth is costly in India, hosting on an India server is costly, but that does not mean that infrastructure or capacity is lacking. More you start using Indian servers, less will be rates, same as the mobile rates. As far as Manashosting goes, they do not represent India, neither they are famous rather they are infamous. And you can not generalise the entire hosting providers from India based on your experience with one provider. There are much more worse providers operating in USA. You guys get attracted towards unlimited everything for next to nothing price, you are bound to get burned, whether you go with MH or HG. There are more numbers of reputed providers in India than the bad ones. If MH does not give you control over the domain or provide bad hosting/support that does not mean every Indian host operate like that. Just for example, we always book domains in our client's name even if they ask us to do the whole process whereas more computer literate clients do the registration process themselves at our site, we just execute the order after verification and payment and we never force our clients to host with us, they are free to host any where they like, also we do not lock or hold their domain if they are paying properly. Also, I would like to inform that we have more retention rate than any other USA based company, in last 10 years of our working not a single client left us for another provider. Those who left are the ones who do not operate a site any more.
