Best hosting option for my email.

    Hey guys,

Right now I host my domain in a local server (I got a server in my office), however, I am thinking of closing my local server as its hard to manage and gives problem time to time.

So which hosting will be best option for me to host my domain and emails.

Mind you, I will need about 60-70 email id's for my officers and it can increase as well. I think you might have to pay additional for every email id you create to hosting (or may be not).

Looked in to google apps, but they are very expensive $50 per email id, so it will cost me about $2500 per year!!!

Obviously it's for my business, so I want a good reliable server, and don't mind paying a bit more, but not huge amount.

The advantage of having a local server that I get is I can creater as many email id as I want. But as I said, it can give hassel and if the internet is down then the server is down too (I am in asia and in here nets get cut off about once a month because cables are not underground yet).

    Cheers.

    M

any mid range cost cpanel hosting plan should work good for you, whichever host you choose just ask them to help you for email setup

Any hosting offer should be able to provide email addresses. The only thing to look for (with 60-70 people in your company) is that the majority of shared/reseller hosting plans out there are going to place some sort of limit on the amount of emails you can send, normally hourly or daily. 60-70 people sending a couple emails per hour might very well put you over that limit.

Accordingly, I would recommend you get a VPS or dedicated server. Doesn't need to be anything too robust if all you are doing is sending emails. A lower-cost VPS should suit your needs just fine. Would also give you more control over your chunk of the server.

couple mails per hour, really not going to put him over limit, unless they sending too many mails or using it for bulk mails sending, otherwise on a regular hour people send very limited mails

The e-mail per hour limits can be changed per domain/account though so in reality if you run into these issues all you'd need to do is contact the hosting provider and ask if they can increase the limit for you :)

No? You would be surprised at how many providers are between 100-200 emails per hour. 60 people x 2 emails per hour = 120 emails per hour. Yes, that would indeed put him over the limit with many hosting providers.

Of course it could just be a matter of asking the hosting company to raise the limits, but with a VPS, you wouldn't have to worry about any of that. Far less hassle.

Also, remember that he will be using this for his business. His users are far more likely to be sending emails than say 60 normal people hosting their own personal domain.

As long as you need Exchange support, it is going to cost you a pretty penny. Hosted exchange solutions are not cheap. ITSolutionsnow.com have a nice one, but it's $9.95 per month and per account.

Do you need calendar and exchange, or do you just need the email part?

I believe that it will be a good idea to contact the company's support and ask them about the emails you can send per day.
