Best Hosting for vBulletin

    Hi Friends,

After a lot of research I am going to start a forum using vBulletin but I want to use a new hosting service dedicated for that. I want to know which is the best web hosting service for that ?

Also, currently I am using HostMonster unlimited domains and hosting service and in that account I am running 3 websites that is using around 1 GB bandwidth a day with around 3000 page views. So I m not sure how to go with it, should I host my VB on that one and once it grows move it somewhere else ? Migrating VB Forums is easy? How much load VB takes - I know it depends on the usage but still you can share your experience with me. :)

VPS is fine but that I can move on anytime when it's required. I am thinking of getting a HostGator account for this.

HostGator is NOT a way to go. Try JustHost reliable and stable.

VPS is must for vbulletin.as you are on hostmonster you might have experience with cpu throttling.so bluehost and hostmoster are ruled out.(i myself am on bluehost)

i would suggest you go for hostgator.

the most important point favoring hostgator is that you can upgrade to VPS anytime and they will take care of the transfer.
so its the best you can get.their VPS are good and stable, get a level 3 managed VPS when required.

Hostgator gets a +1 from me!

If your forum is going to be large though I'd recommend getting a vps - it saves trouble down the line as forum transfers can be tricky.

ThePlanet is also not affordable for someone starting. Stream101 (my company) fully supports vbulletin installs on shared hosting at a very affordable rate. After your site is so big, you will want to move to a semi-dedicated, or a dedicated server. When you are starting out, shared is the way to go!

Well i'd actually buy hosting from THEPLANET rather than buying from a mapped hosting service.

The only problem with doing that, is if you cannot afford it, you are out of luck

I've heard from dozens of clients of mine that Hostgator doesnt work well with vbulletin. Obviously you are wanting to earn a commission, but did you find out if this was valid or not?

I have several websites running on a Servint Essential VPS (fiddy bucks a month), and been there for years.

I have absalutely no complaints at all, and have never suffered any loading issues on our peak days or hours.

I was referring to hosting with The Planet. Not $129 that is easily paid off. Maybe for a low quality server, but that is monthly.

That is great then. I have had, like I said, several dozen clients tell me that is why they switched to us. When I tried them 4 years ago, the vbulletin ran VERY slow, and didnt seem to work properly. Many modules wouldnt work because they didnt enable the required info.

Any dedicated server is excellent for vBulletin, as long as you have enough room. Hosting packages advertised as "vBulletin ready" are often very disappointing, as they do not even have some of the basic modules required for the most popular vBulletin add-ons. So, any good server will do.

Anyhow, for getting started, a simple shared plan will be enough. Once you grow, you will upgrade - moving vBulletin to a new server is pretty easy, especially if you have attachments saved into the database. Hostgator is good enough for people starting out.
