-Jimkarter Their servers being in Denmark actually gives you, as a customer, alot more consumer rights then in the states. I dont know the company in question so I wont defend them. But personally I would be much happier with my servers in Denmark then in the states.
May be you are true. But I really hated the time the my sites were taking to get loaded (thats when I check the IP location), as my visitors are mostly from USA.
i get dreamhost, they seem to be ok for now, but then i only have 3 domain with them. so i guest we will see
Several of my domains share a HostPC account, and this discussion is very helpful because I have decided to place several other domains with some other company. Seems like I heard that I shouldn't have all my sites on the same C-block, but I don't know what that is. How would I find out if HostGator or 1and1 is on same C-block as HostPC, or if there is a reason to favor one or the other?
If you link your sites together, they should not be on the same c-block. (google can think that the linking is not natural) If you dont link them together it doesnt mather at all. The c-block is from the IP address. IP is 4 sets of digits, known as octets. The third octet is called the C-Class IP address, for example in 216.230.215.91 215 is the C-Class IP address. To find out if HostGator or 1and1 is on same C-block as HostPC check the IP addresses.

Do yourself a BIG favor and stay the heck away from these idiots! Honest to god I have never seen dumber people in my entire life. First they claim their servers are in the US but inreality they are in Germany and the lag times can be horrible. Secondly they use this inane shared hardware system what takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 hours to update changes to your site ... if it is something like a php site this can mean errors thrown all over the place until all their servers update. Lastly their tech support is THE worst. You ask them one thing and they come back with some stupid comment about something that has NOTHING to do with your question or problem ... either they dont speak English well enough to answer or they are just freaking stupid! To me 3 weeks to get it through their thick heads that I wanted to cancel my plan and get a refund ....... absolutely the WORST!
Are people just advertising their sites, without even seeing what the actual thread starter asked for?
