    Horror movies are my favorite genre of movie- what you have to remember is that they are not meant to be thrillers or suspense movies- they are horror and are meant to be unrealistic. they exist simply for entertainment purposes and if you keep that in mind I think you'll enjoy them. That being said, any of the older "Halloween" movies are a great place to start!

    The scariest are the the ones that are a little more true to life. I'm not quite as scared of getting kidnapped and turned into a human centipeed as much as scared of a spending the winter in a vacant hotel with my husband who goes crazy with an axe. I'm talking about Centipeed and The Shining.

    Waht about Scream 1 and 2, also 13 Ghosts, the Shining(as metnioned above), Grindhouse, I didn't like saw much, just mindless killing.

    The Shining is easily the best on this list, but I will give credit to the Japanese version of The Grudge. Surprisingly freaky.

    Geez, no one has replied to this thread? They're probably sick of replying to this same exact threat a thousand times. Well, I'll help you out buddy. Watch Evil Dead 2. Its better than Evil Dead. And don't you dare watch any Saw movie. They're crap.
