Best headphones - Full ear and in-ear

I'm always listening to podcasts, audiobooks and music. However, I've yet to find headphones that I really like. There are two types that I need:

In-ear (ear bud) - Most of the time this is what I want for walking around listening to (mostly) spoken word stuff. The best I've had so far were the ones that came with my Creative Zen (pretty much the only good thing about the Zen). Not a big fan of Apple's and I've had at least a half-dozen others that have all pretty much sucked. Any suggestions?

Full-ear (noise cancelling) - There are a couple of times (e.g., on planes) when I'd really like full-ear, noise-cancelling headphones. The Bose ones are the best known but I'm guessing there are probably better and cheaper options. Any suggesions?

BTW, are there good sites that you guys use for finding this kind of stuff. I typically just go to Amazon and sort by highest review but that's not always that great.

I love skullcandy headphones because they look beautiful (lol), but they aren't too comfortable and the base isn't that great..

For reviews on products, I would look up a particular model on amazon.com and read the reviews off there (I find that useful) or just google up "model_name review"

Have you looked into the Shure pro line of in ear monitors? e2,e3,e4,e5

These are the ones that pro musicians use on stage. I use them when I play with my band, can't hear any outside noise when they are in.

I actually didn't like the Shures all that much. Never really got a good fit with the earpiece and the right side went out after about six months of use. I have heard good things so maybe it was just me.

As for the noise-cancelling ones, I'm looking for the full-ear type (like the Bose) but have heard that the Bose ones are indeed over-priced and over-hyped. Any other suggestions would be great.

    Thanks!

DMC Timeframes kill Bose for dead. Their 6 feet tall ribbon speakers are the very best there is in speakers.

Fair enough, I've just never heard speakers sound so loud with so much clarity, it was incredible.
