there is no best way to generate traffic. its a combination of many different things, from article marketing to directory submission, link exchange and etc. and don't forget, a successful method for someone else may not be your best option, as we work defiantly on things. good luck.

 

According to me, best way to generate traffic for new sites is using CPC networks. But in long-term you should concentrate on SEO as well. For some sites, forums work wonders. For others, social bookmarking sites can send all the required traffic. One single method can't be called 'the best'.

 

First, you need to optimize your site tightly. This means linking your internal pages with anchor texts. Do some KW analysis and come up w/ the best KWs and place them on your site - and the best ones in your title tag and headers. Then backlink from relevant (that's hard to do though) sites and make sure they are dofollow.
