I think Getafreelancer.com is the biggest one you can find. About 50 projects are posted in everyday. A good place to start, but the rate is bit low. I advice you to try ODESK, ELance simultaneously. If you would get 2,3 projects per month, please purchase their gold membership its about 12$ per month, else you are charged 10% from every project you do.
Yeah just signed up to getafreelancer and people work for potatos. Hard to compete with Indian prices. Unfortunately that's out of my control, just the difference in economies I guess.
99designs and getafreelancer are the most popular sites for designers and coders, other than those rentacoder, elance, are good ones as well. just Google it out and you'll find plenty good ones.
