Best Freelance-tpye script?

I'm launching a simple service (not an actually freelance site) that will need an auction script those those classic freelance scripts.

I only really know of two scripts.

http://www.smarterscripts.com/perl-cgi/paid-scripts/freelancers/view - $99 but I question its security, quality and flexibility.

http://www.radscripts.com/freelancescripts/index.php - $325 if you keep the footer link.

Has anyone had a look at these up close? Can you suggest another product or confirm one of the above is/isn't the way to go?

    Thanks.

Well coding a clone of the script would hardly be worth it unless the script was truly unstable.

Do not ever buy radlance, radbids, radclassified, radnics, radlinks or any of the scripts sold by radscripts.com

Buying Radlance Gold was my biggest mistake in 2006. I paid $300 but I don't get the script. What I got was the privilege of getting the boss to install the script at his pleasure. When I moved to a new server a few months later and asked him to reinstall the script on my new server, Ed Pakstas ignored me completely (the boss of radscripts). I could not do it myself because he alone holds the install code and some vital code is encrypted. So my website was
dead before it even started & $300+ gone. I have the paypal receipt as proof. This guy is friendly with you until you part with your money.

I am still blaming myself for my own stupidity for not doing enough research on this guy before my purchase. Because of bad reviews, he had removed all his listings in hotscripts.com.

Do a search on the number of websites he hung out to dry after getting their money.
    http://www.google.com/search?q=radlance+Invalid+License+Key&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:eek:fficial&client=firefox-a

The scripts they sell also have a lot of security bugs.
    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=tym&q=vulnerability+radscripts&btnG=Search&meta=

I managed to save someone else's review on hotscripts before Ed Pakstas removed his listings:

Great script, but..., Jun 29, 2006 Reviewed By: bolooroo
Review Of: Auction Software - Freelance in PHP :: Auctions

Radscript is great script and included lots of features that any other scripts can't beat. However, Ed, the author, doesn't help you much with the customization. You're only limited with his options and he'll forbid you to go through his "precious" script. If you annoy him with bunch of emails, then he will ban your email address. So you're pretty much on your own. There is no forum support, only emails. Even emails, don't expect so much from him. His answers won't resolve your problems. PERIOD!

After wasting my money on Radlance, I managed to find iLance at www.ilance.ca. I haven't bought their script yet as I am waiting for their sales. Just sign up for their newsletter and sometimes they will have discounts off.

I actually have the software and there are plenty of secrets.

    Version 3.1.0

#1 Does not allow you to have multiple levels of membership and charge different end of auction fees per level. I.E. just like www.getafreelancer.com if you have a gold membership there are no end of auction fees. Ilance v 3.1.0 does not support it.

#2 The licensing requirements are rough. You can only have up to 5000 registered members until you have to upgrade to the 15,000 user license. Well thats only $500.00 more, no biggie. But wait once you have exceeded 15,000 users it will cost you an additional $4000.00 for the unlimited version (which use to sell for about $700.00 - one time fee ).

#3 The owner of the operation Peter forgot to include a requirement for funds upfront before an ad is posted. Instead the software relies on the "honesty" of the user to pay the invoice.

#4 There are a large number of bugs reported in the tracker.

#5 You will notice a large number of similarities between vbulletin and the ilance code.

#5 Support/bug fixes can be slow. They don't always release a monthly update.

Lesson learned, pay a good programmer to create a script for you or code it yourself.

Whatever you do don't buy the freelance script from radlance.com, I bought it and got nothing, was fooled for over one year, when I complained the owner just said he wouldn't work with me. I lost hundreds of dolars with these scammers!

    hey chris

i was in a same boat as you for a while, after trying radscripts and elance, they were both couldnt do what i wanted. give ozlancer.com a try it can handle being a service marketplace rather than a freelance marketplace

    cheers

Think 10 times before purchasing one at ozlancer.com I purchased one pro license but he never gives technical assistance. When I reported him that his tool has lots of bugs and if he could help, he remotely deleted system files and blocked my IP address. It was offensive if someone claiming doing business behaives as such. I purchase online tools very often and never encountered a vendor as unreliable and dishonest as this one. Now, I consider that I lost +300 USD in the air, plus the precious time I lost in dealing with him.

    Hi Dave,

Great story. What a shame it's a complete lie. Considering you never paid for the license to begin I think you have nothing to complain about, even though you did receive full technical support. You posted our source code to the Waraxe Forums, as if we wouldn't find out, that's why your license was cancelled.

You are not trustworthy. You sell something with features don't exist. You do not provide any technical support even if it is sold as part of the package. BTW, you call a name while you were supposed to keep the privacy of any one who did business with. This peaks much about you. You will be ashamed if I post all my payment details here and the countless bugs of your good looking empty stuff. You sell something that doesn't work, which is not less than a fraud. My point here is to let others save their money, probably spend it where it should be. Thanks to internet, you may cheat one or two but you won't get all. The smart business people listen to what customers say and make improvements. They grow. The greedy ones do the contrary. Eventually, they are losers.

I think you need to take a look in the mirror pal. Why don't you stop slandering our script with lies and go back to guessing eBay passwords.
