Best Free Wordpress Plugins To Stop Spam

Hi everyone,

I have been away from blogging for a while, but I am up an going with a new multiple contributor How To blog which I just started a few days ago. Since I have been away from WordPress for a while, I had to get up to speed with the latest security plugins, and it seems that much has changed and yet much has stayed the same. I couple of years ago I wrote a blog on Wordpress security plugins that was quite popular, so I decided to write a fresh up-to-date one on Links.com in two parts. I hope it accurately reflects the current environment. If you visit and read the blogs, I would appreciate any comments you might have.

 

Akismet, it comes with WP installed plugin you only have to activate it

Not sure why. It is timing in under 2 secs. on measurement sites. I will relook and see what is happening. For now, I reduced the number of blog postings on the home page. Thanks.

 

Yes now it's super fast, it was slow maybe due to DP redirect method

Akismet, Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin they are really useful and important plugin for stop spam. i am also using these plugin

 

Thanks for the comment. I didn't know about this plugin. It looks like it is adds some additional Comment protection without the use of a Captcha. However, it does require that client site javascript be turned on. I imagine that most users will have it turned on while bots will not. In this manner, it is similar to Bad Behavior. Certainly a good plugin to keep in mind if Bad Behavior is not providing adequate protection.

 

Aksimet plug-in is great for keeping your site protected from spam comments but after activation you have to get a Aksimet API key for the plugin to work.....

In additional for the key you have to first sign up in the API key providers website and have to choose plan like mentioned below:

1.50$ for multiple site access.
2. 5$ for single site access.
3. 0-120$ for personal blog.

why not just use the comment off plugin to disable.

 

Thanks for the comment. Yes, one can turn of Comments as another way of stop spam, however, most bloggers want to encourage real comments in order to increase traffic. It is a trade-off and it depends upon the intent of the blog.

 

No Akismet is not good . Sometimes makes mistakes .

CAPTCHA codes are better than

 

I have a lot of spam on my blogs. Can be more than 10 000 spam comments daily. Akismet help me with this, so it realy great plugin
