Best Free Web Directories

I noticed that the first directory you have on your list url.biz is a PR0 rather than PR8. It lost its ranking on the last PR update.

 

I have just finished updating most of the sites. Some moved up and some moved down and some moved off. I'll try to keep it more up to date especially after PR updates. Thanks for the heads up.

These lists are quite helpful. I wished we had one *sticky* post where everyone that owns a directory would post it. That would be a huge resource, rather than searching through the site for "directory."

CanadianEh's directory list is what I primarily use. I brought a pharmacy site from PR0 to PR5 in the last update by submitting to sites in his list. Appreciate your efforts on the list!

Why do all these directories get blocked out by Peer Guardian? Tuning, PG blocked your domain because of Atrivotechnologies at the IP of 69.50.171.196

 

I'm under shared hosting. Perhaps there are lots of sites hosted in same IP. And some are adult/ blocked etc. I have never thought of this problem yet.

Will dedicated IP solves the problem ?

my list is now over 180 (in fact it's 190 at the moment but will probably go up by a handful next update)

 

Though off topic, its very important to know what all sites share your IP and accordingly move your site to an IP that is clear and is a) not shared by many sites, b) they are not compromising with your site.

I would advise you to move to either dedicated IP, this would cost you approx $2 per month, or move to an IP that is less cluttered.

To some extent, the IP you share has some affect on SERPS as well.

 

silencer: Is that with or with out TanyaMartens sites. I am trying to find some one to go throught this list of lists of directories and add me up 200 to 400 free directories and 100 to 200 pay directories.

Thats with her sites. they are only offline for free submit till 15th June.

I think you will be lucky to get more than a couple of hundred seo friendly free's. Most of the lists heavily overlap. I have no idea on the paids.

 

Eventually, Google and other SEs seem to figure that out but they will initially look at domains and subdomains as separate entities, which is as it should be.

For example, http://domain.com and http://subdomain.domain.com are separate entities.

Technically, http://www.domain.com is a "subdomain" of domain.com -- sometimes, you will see subdomains like http://www.www.domain.com or even http://www.www.www.domain.com -- I've never quite got the point of that but they exist.
