Best Free Ways To Get Backlinks to Your Site???

Hi! everyone. I would like to know what techniques are you using to generate backlinks. Below are the methods I use.

1) Directory Submission
2) Article Submission
3) Submission to RSS & Blog Directory
4) Social Bookmarking
5) Link Bait
6) Reciprocal Link or Three Way Links
7) Press Release
8) Links from Web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, Hubpages etc...

I'm not a big fan of directory submissions although I have submitted by website to DMOZ. Article submission is decent but I haven't used that method yet. Social Networking & Social Bookmarking are the main ones I use. Another good on you should add to your list is Blog commenting. Don't just go around looking for random blog posts with high PR to comment. I subscribe to blog feeds, I comment if I seriously have something to say, not just for link juice. Also I usually comment on blogs I'm a regular reader of such as Mashable, TechCrunch, Gizmondo etc.

4) Social Bookmarking <<Good if you do it slowly
5) Link Bait <<Good natural links
6) Reciprocal Link or Three Way Links <<BAD idea!
7) Press Release << yes
8) Links from Web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, Hubpages etc... << yes but don't make link wheels and make sure its good original content.

Forum comments can be very effective, sign up to a niche related forum, join in the discussions and place you link in the signature, just don't spam: contribute something.

 

I'm using all of these techniques.

 

Thanks for your inputs. I forgot to mention the whole commenting thing. Do Follow Blog Commenting and Do Follow Forum Commenting are very effective too.

Ohh, about "Directory Submission" & "Reciprocal Link or Three Way Links" it's good for starter sites. It helps indexing faster. Also, I think it's always good to have some backlinks then having none.

I'm thinking about "Paid Review Services" so what do you guys think? Any experiences and particular recommended services.

Also, peoples please share any other methods you know that we haven't discussed above.

The activites you have mentioned are true, but don't know all they are work's or not. becuase all the things are depend on popularity. like we submitted our website on Dmoz it's works all we know that, but for others we don't know!

I systematically do all the mention process, as I want to do everything possible for my sites. So not sure which give me what result in term of SERP result. All process have their own advantages & depend upon ur time availability you shoulf choose ur methods.

We haven't really tapped into Facebook very heavily for links. I though Facebook was mostly nofollow?

 

I think Link Building is important mainly and can be done by many methods mentioned in this thread.
