Best free SEO book/resource?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by mbomb, Mar 27, 2007.

I know this has been posted somewhere. I was just wondering if there is a consensus as to what is the best free resource to learn SEO. I have a basic I idea of what to do. I'd just like to KNOW that I'm doing the right things as opposed to THINKING I'm doing the right things for my site(s). Is there a best ebook/site to learn SEO?

Here you are. Look the post count on DP and there hide something you can use. Not everything, but you have to chose by yourself.

Here in forums is the best way to learn a lot about SEO. Just ask any topic about SEO then the expert will answer your question.

As for books, I'd definitly go for SEObook, check out his blog as well. For sites: if you've read all of SEOmoz, you won't do anything really stupid anymore ;)

SEO Book is full of mis-information and most certainly not worth what he's charging. If you're totally new, then it is worth a read as it gets you into the "SEO Philosophy" quite well.

read Matt Cutts, hang out here and also at webmasterworld. ask questions. i also drop in on seoblackhat from time to time (but I'm definitely not black hat!).
keep in mind, seo is always changing, because the search engines are changing and improving all the time. Some things that worked 12 months ago won't work today, and could even get you banned from the search engines.

if your looking for free.. then forums are your answer!!! Look for past posts on relevant topics or post your own personalized question. Nothing like collective knowledge. Others that have been successful in their endeavors give alot of love to forums. But it's up to you to implement and test what you learn. Trial and Error to me is the best teacher.
