I know that submission to as many social bookmarking sites is important for every post that I make. BUT, what about the time involved with every set of submission? What's the best combination that will give me the best quality of traffic for my time spent?
What time is spent? Just copy and paste your original submission, time after time. Besides, there aren't a whole lot of good bookmarking sites out there. What, maybe, 6, 9, 15???
I think that bookmarking sites work at first but then they become quite limited. Marketing requires new ideas, new concepts to reach the public. You have to think of these marketing techniques yourself and implement them on your sites to see if they are successful.
Social bookmarking should be easy if you know how. I use www.onlywire.com so I can submit to different social bookmarking services. I see you use feedburner for your blog. You can also include these ping services to maximize your exposure: http://rpc.pingomatic.com/ http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping http://api.moreover.com/RPC2 http://api.my.yahoo.com/RPC2 http://bblog.com/ping.php http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 http://coreblog.org/ping/ http://ping.bitacoras.com http://pinger.blogflux.com/rpc/ http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/home http://pingqueue.com/rpc/ http://ping.syndic8.com/xmlrpc.php http://ping.weblogalot.com/rpc.php http://rpc.blogbuzzmachine.com/RPC2 http://rpc.blogrolling.com/pinger/ http://rpc.britblog.com/ http://rpc.newsgator.com/ http://rpc.tailrank.com/feedburner/RPC2 http://rpc.weblogs.com/RPC2 Just add them in your word press configuration under Options / Writing / Update Services Good luck
Personally I'd suggest to you use these social bookmarking sites, if you do the submission manually: Digg, Del.icio.us, Stumble Upon If you do it automatically with some software or with Onlywire.com, than submit your site to every social bookmarking site.
I think it depends on what sort of site you're marketing. If you're marketing a forum then you need people who like participating in forums. In that case posting on forums is probably more useful than submitting to stumbleupon, the hubb of people with short attention spans.
