What is it. I have used SMF forum in the past and it's alright. Anything better. I love the look of VBulletin but my wallet does not. I know their are going to be different opinions but what do you guys think? Thanks, Noc
There is no best forum, but the forum that is best for you. Everyone's taste are different and depending on their preferences, some like SMF, some like phpbb3 and so even like myBB. For me been a faithful phpbb follower all these years. 100% behind phpbb.
My vote goes to PHPBB3.... It has a lot of features and lots of FREE themes that you could just find over the net.
I agree with it too, I just didn't want to quote it again Though, once you get a free forum set up, ask for donations to get a paid alternative. My vB forum is nearly 100% paid for by it's members...
I will always stick to SMF as the best forum software. phpBB is always vulnerable to SPAM bots. I've tried the two. SMF is the most secure forum software.
I would stick with SMF, it i easy to use and, has amazing mods. phpBB is good to, but it i a lot harder to install mods on.
http://getvanilla.com/ Fastest, cleanest, extensible , configurable, designable forum available. I can't fathom why more people don't use this. It is a much better way of thinking about community discussion. I am guessing because it does not look like vb out of the box alot of people get scared. It frankly smokes everything else if you spend a few hours configuring it to your liking. Nigel
I think it's SMF They are secure and they are very easy when installing Updates, they are light weight and you will need less support for a SMF forum than PHPBB
No doubt that SMF is cool Freeware, But I personally don't like its ugly user & Admin interface It has a lot of Good Mods & skins as well as its secure too, but due to its interface, I don't use it 1thing more, Mods are easy to install with Default skin, but mostly mods do not work other custom installed skin. You need to pay or request to mod owner for custom skins
I think one of the most interesting free forums is Vanllia (getvanilla.com). It takes a different approach to the traditional forum.
