Site-Sift - never used, but Lots of folks here have
LMA - was once really good but outdated and cumbersome. Doesn't have any way to accept payments for featured listings.
eSyndicat - never used, but I'm hearing a lot of good things (hype?)
FreePhpDirectoryScript - never used, but it claims to be powering GoGuides
phpDirectory - never used, don't know anything about it. But it claims free. Beta. Download will be released "in next few days". (wonder how long that has been up)
IndexScript - I've never used it, but a LOT of DPers have. Sure they'll speak up here sooner or later.

Does anyone know of one that is similar to phplinkdirectory.. It's just a little dear (75$) to take off the link back.

A directory script is like a link database that you provide your users with, you can also sell some links called "Featured Links" at your directory and earn money thru it.

Adsense is not very usefull if you have a directory, it also depends on how you place the ads though.
