cool :) will check it out-always disregarded it on every WP install-chose to disable comments in reading-but time to delve a little deeper

But I read in description that Akismat is free for only those sites that do not earn from adsense or affiliate programs. I hardly know any site that does not show ads.

Well, they say so, but they do not check your site to see if its making money, just ignore it.

I wouldn't recommend a forum plugin install a standalone forum script like phpBB.

bbpress is actually a standalone thing, i dont see the problem when its installed as a plugin. It can totally sync with WP and since its from Automatic, it will be there as long as WP exists.

You can't compare bbpress to phpbb though.

I agree to that, if one is looking for a proper, fully functional forum, phpbb is the way to go. But most people should be happy with bbpress

I used PHPbb intergrated with WP before using WP-United, it worked well but it doesn't appear that the project has been updated in a while.
