vBulletin offers the most functionalities by far. The only problem is the cost.

    Paid: vBulletin.
    Free: phpbb.

Although if you go with phpbb3 you may have trouble finding skins/themes.

    vBulletin for sure!

It costs some money, but it is very safe and has such great features!

It would be a sin not using it :p

vBulletin is the best one to use but if you want to start your site to see how it gose mybb is great and its free vBulletin has more you can do with it but you will only use it all when you are a lot bigger.

i have a few sites on mybb and i very happy with it and have no plans of moving ;)

If you can afford it, go with vBulletin. But if you prefer free forum platforms, I'd personally go with SMF. I prefer that to phpbb for its ease of use.

Vbulletin is expensive and I'm told their about to put their price up, I had this issue last week and decided to go with PhPbb3, its a stable release and there are many hacks where you can addon new features, I think you'd be charged for these extras for vbulleting. The PhPbb community is very helpful and you can request new modifications for the forum. Remember this is all for free, or you can pay for vbulletin, I never found getting skins hard for my forum take a look www.vidripscript.com/forums
