    hi people,

    we all know SEs gives a lot of attention on keywords in the domain name.
    we all know too that the best keyword rich domain is something like:

    www . keywordphrase . com .net or .org

    but if we choose .info domains ?
    what would be the best choice for high SE rankings ?

    www . keyword-phrase . com (using hyphen) or
    www . keywordphrase . info (without hyphen but using .info domain)

    thanks for your thoughts.

    Technically all tlds are supposed to be equal, but some people believe that .com, .net and .org are the best ones to get. Personally I would take the .com even if it has a dash. I wouldn't expect any kind of boost by using the .com, but it may help with branding, conversion rates and other things.

    Personally, i try not to use dash in URL.
    Also, i would suggest go for .com, if it is not available, add in soem small word like "my", "de", 'e" "official" and etc to get .com address.

    Why would you say a dash is 'not url friendly'?? You can get great rankings with a domain with a dash in it. The dash actually helps the search engine identify the separate words. You really just need to avoid domains that have 2 or more dashes as that is where it gets spammy.

    buy any domain avoid "-" in domain name. It doestn't matter if webpage had proper content with keywords means with proper seo. the page will get the rank in SE . if its top in list it will get top.

    well, we know that Google loves userfriendly websites.

    it is easir to read www.my-keyword-phrase.com than www.mykeywordphrase.com.

    so why do you think is bad to use dashes ??

    i dont think is there anything against it in the Google Webmaster Guidelines...

    .com's seem the have an advantage unless there are none. If there are none, you'll probably see a .net or .org ranking fairly. high.

    I've had almost no success on the keywords that I use a hyphen in the domain.

    Google and most other search engines are easily able to parse out the words in your domain name regardless of whether or not you have a hyphen inserted. If available, get the .com, but I agree with others, the hyphen can create a branding issue because it doesn't read well when the domain name is spoken

    First thing first, www. is a subdomain, not a domain. Second, the search engines give no preference or extra weight to .com .net .org .info .biz or other TLDs, EXCEPT country-specific ones (such as .co.uk or .org.au). Third, it's generally best for usability reasons to avoid the hyphen regardless of the domain unless avoiding it would cause you to rank for unintended keywords. "Experts Exchange" is a popular example of this. If they didn't have the hyphen in the domain experts-exchange.com then they would have a problem on their hands since Google and the other search engine would think the domain contains the keywords "experts exchange" as well as "expert sex change".

    As you said the only perceived benefit is the perception and familiarity with the .com - in other words, it's human psychology, not a search engine algorithm.

    And yet at times (such as the example I gave above) it's necessary to use. Another one would be a proper noun, such as a person's name when the non-hyphenated version is already taken.

    Or just take the .net or .org TLD.

    Try saying "H T T P Colon Slash Slash W W W Dot My Dash Domain Dash Name Dot Com" to someone a few times. People tend to have trouble remembering all that.

    Again, there will be times when you'll need the hyphen in the domain name.

    You mean brand, not content, in the domain. Right?

    Easier to read, but harder to pronounce and remember.

    As I and others have said before, there is no advanage. Just the perception of one.

    And as I showed above, sometimes the WRONG keywords. ;)

    HI,

    I got hosting Servers in 3 location. So if i create 3 keyword plus my domain as sub and point to these servers with one page content and linking to my main site is good methode or bad?

    Ex:

    keyword1.mydomain.com ---> Server1- About Keyword1 Service
    keyword2.mydomain.com ---> Server2- About Keyword2 Service
    keyword3.mydomain.com ---> Server3- About Keyword3 Service

    all are backlink to mydomain.com

    Thanks,

    Go for .com name, since it is more common and popular. Also try to avoid dash, it is hard to remember.

    yup, create site with another domain and link to your main site. make sure you make site about related topics for your keyword.

    ex:
    1) site 1 (your main site) : yourdomain.com
    title : Your Domain
    2) site 2 : thisisyourdomain.net
    title : This is your domain
    3) site 3 : chooseyourdomain.name
    title : choose your domain

    - make unique content/not duplicate for site1,site2,site3
    - create link back to your main site from site 2 and site 3.
    - create link back to your site 2 from site 3.
    - next step is do link building for site2 and site3 (search this forum what you must do for link building to get high quality backlinks)
