Best Factor for Link Purchases: Alexa or Google PR?

Discussion in 'Link Development' started by thebigbreak, Dec 22, 2006.

What's the best way to determine an inbound links value? I often feel like we put too much emphasis on PageRank, and not enough on actual traffic. I've heard that Google is using more click through data to determine rankings... and since that's our purpose for buying links... Which is a better determining factor?

In my opinion it is the page rank which is to be considered primarily while judging to buy a link, alexa is not so important but should be anyways considered in a very few aspects.

Do not bother with alexa. It's not something you can rely on.

I think alexa is now getting more credibility than before .. :)
Anything below <30 K should be considerable and PR4+ is not bad :)

It should be Google PR when you say link purchase, because if you want to analysis alexa you should say ad purchase and not link purchase

Alexa is based on traffic through it's toolbar. Since that toolbar is only downloaded by people in the webmaster industry - it is very slanted towards webdesign type websites. So it's probably a decent measure for websites on that topic, but not a very good one for websites in most other niches.

i think both pagerank and traffic are equally important. however, it's difficult to get accurate indications of both - and people normally use google toolbar pagerank and alexa traffic rank as proxies. although both are not terribly accurate, i'd say that google toolbar pagerank is more accurate than alexa traffic rank.

You have to judge PR and not consider Alexa too accurately

Think. ! ! ! WHy you want the link. For Traffic or for Link Power so that it increase your SERPS.

In the first case look for alexa

In the second case look for PR

I heard that Alexa ranking is very easy to fake, so be careful when buying links based on Alexa factor.

people buy links on websites that have high pr and make pr transfer, alexa rank its kind of insignificant, but if you have a good alexa rank(bellow 30-40k) thats a + for your website

It's not important PR, PR will not boost your rankings.
There are some more important factors like:
    Relevance
    Age of the site
    Link profile
    Traffic

And they you can check PR to see how is popular that site or page.

Alexa is better because PR can easily be gained through link exchanges or submitting your site to directories. Alexa rank is much harder to get

    LOL

just install on your browser alexa toolbar and visit your site couple of times daily and you will see results.

    You can affect alexa rankings.

Personally, I'd be most concerned about the number of incoming links the page I'm purchasing the link on has.

I personally go by All of them together.
Good PR and Must be Indexed well, should have good Alexa Rank.

A combination of all things together with the Domain age.

    Thanks
