I am looking for a out of box solution for a book store with some customization involved. Right now, all i know are Zen cart & osCommerce. Are there any other interesting products available?

    Thanks!

You can use x-cart, cubecart or magento in place of oscommerce or zencart.
you can view features of these plateforms. You can choose anyone of them but please choose according to
    your comfort.

No doubt all the solutions are best but there is big difference in terms of features.

According to your need you have to use x-cart.Magneto is best one but its paid version is really very costly and you will get nothing in free version. You can use some security software with x-cart which is important in book stores.

I would prefer to go with Magento. If you put all selection criteria next to each other, it will turn out that Magento ecommerce is a fully-fledged platform for complete flexible online store.

I also recommend Magento. If you have an existing site Avactis is a good cart that can integrate into it.

I would prefer to go with Magento Commerce Because it's flexibility and customize as per your requirement.
