I use 1and1.com to register my domains.

Including the free privacy registration, TLDs are only 6$/year

    Who/what do you use?

I use a post office box and a free voicemail service. You can also register a business name at city hall ($20 in my county) and use that in the name field. A post office box works out cheap when you have many domains... and you aren't signing over ownership to the registrar's privacy service.

    Wait a minute...

When I register a domain with privacy, I am signing the name over to them?!

Whoever is in the registrant field in the WHOIS is the legal owner. You are signing a side deal with the privacy service that they put their name and contact info in the registrant fields and will give it back to you when you ask.

    1&1... no thanks.

Lots of horror stories surrounding this company posted out there.

1&1 are not the choice of Domainers as they are very restrictive

1&1 might be cheap, but have to agree that it's not the best choice out there. Godaddy, Namecheap & Moniker are the best

My favourite is Dynadot, as they accept Moneybookers payments and they're good.
