Best Domain for SEO

    Hi,

I am working on an e-commerce store for a pretty competitive product. We plan on relying largely on organic search results and adwords.

We wanted to include our two main keywords in the domain - "discount" and the product that the site sells.

I registered what I thought were the three best domain names available. Any thoughts on which of these three will be best for SEO?

    1) discount-product-hq.com
    2) discountproducthq.com
    3) discount_product.biz

As I mentioned I have registered all three and plan on just redirecting the unused domain names to domain I decide will be best for SEO and/or adwords.

    Thanks for your advice

Three keywords are okay in domain name separated by '-'.
Now, its turn of quality backlinks building which carries over 90% weight in deciding fortune for organic results.

I sense this "discount-product-hq.com" as more search engine optimized compare to others that's because peoples might be searching discout hq or discount product hq that you will get traffic from.

But, having your keyword in you URL is not all, quality & relevent backlinks performs a major task for your ranking.

if i can be frank, i feel that the domain names convey some kind of 'used product' or 'cheap product' site, and definitely will not be closely linked to quality products. Why 'discount product'? Are your products really discounted? Perhaps a domain name more closely tied to your products wld be more appropriate for SEO purposes.

cheapproductshq.com is the one which would be very catchy, cause people in general would be more interested in cheap products than discounted products.

An arugment can be, "i dont provide cheap products! i provide discounted products!"
Counter Argument "your products are cheaper than the usual price cause they are discounted".

I dunno y but i neva prefer hyphens or underscore in the urls.

No effect from seo's point of view. .com is recommended as it is most commonly used. Domain names seem okie from search engines point of view, but how can you make the branding as it involves - in between keywords.

Option 1 is best for SEO purposes but for SEM and user purposes all 3 are pretty poor as they are each hard to read.

If you're focused solely on organic Google results then go for #1 but if you wish to improve user retention then a better domain would be the best option.

You should focus more on good backlinks with the anchor text - Discounted HP Products - instead of a clumsy looking domain stuffed with three keywords and hyphens in my opinion.

I would say go for option 3. Domain extension does not affects SEO so its best to keep it targeted :)

Use discountproducthq.com as your main domain name.

Use discount-product-hq.com as a microsite or landing page for advertising so you can track results.

discount-product-hq.com would be "best" for SEO, but unless it's a 100% SEO effort (and you're never expecting any type-in traffic,) it's such a minimal difference for SEO, that the usability lost vs. discountproducthq.com is truly not worth it.

If you really think it makes that much of a difference for SEO, I would get discountproducthq.com and discount-product-hq.com and redirect requests made to discountproducthq.com to discount-product-hq.com.

Avoid using underscores, and stick to hyphens. I've read that some of the search engines don't interpret underscores correctly.

I'd try searching the word "product" under a tool like gkw. Discount shopping 695k searches per month while Discount Store has 6k searches per month per Overture and you should be able to capitalize on that one fairly easily. It's better IMO to go for the smaller phrases first and then move on to the big fish once you have established yourself well with those. :)

Domain name is not more important. In seo point of view important is your title, desc and keywords.
