Best domain for search engines?

Hi,

I apologise if this has been asked before, but...

Is there any evidence or suggestion that a particular domain can be more popular with search engines than another? For example; will a .com be looked upon more favourably than a .co.uk or a .net ????

The TLD is NOT relevant for SEO. (except maybe .edu, which is seen good)

All depends on your objectives and your region where you want to market your site. .com domains are general purpose top level domains.
