Hi, Submitting directories through automated softwares or sites have the below issues: 1. Softwares can't figure it out exact category. Some directories will not provide listing if your website is not in the exact category. Software will skip that directory moves to other directory. 2. Softwares doesn't know whether the website indexed by search engine or not. 3. Softwares can't figure it out, whether the directory is penalized or not. 4. Lot of good directories have Captcha Option, which a software can't do it. Have a look at directorymaximizer.com. They let you have multiple titles / descriptions for submission, which is good for anchor text variety. They also submit at a steady rate, so google does not discover all of your backlinks at once, but in a nice flow.

I used directory submitting software and had many problems. First, there were problems with captcha. Then there were problems with login. Then there were problems with sites no longer existing. Out of 10,000 supposed directories, after hours and pulling out my hair, I got it to say I had submitted to approximately 300 directories. Two days later, my website went from google position 13 to being deindexed. It could not be found in the top 1000 websites for keywords that had ranked well. Three months later, its sitting at position #486. That was what I got for using submittal software. I'm still doing the Google dance and it ain't pretty. I had a similar problem with article directory submitter software. Whatever you do to build links, it should look natural. Natural = one person could have accomplished this without automation in this time period. Then it went viral and a host of people, from different ips, spread the word.
