I"m curious who in your mind has the best submit.php page for their directory. Instead of worrying about other things I want to focus on the submit page and see what results that yields. If you know a directory with a great submission page please let me know.
IMO there are other thigs you should insist on rather than the submit page. The submit page is seen only once, by the submitter. The rest of the directory is viewed by all, visitors & submitters. The uniqueness of the submit page is not so important...I don't care about it to be honest
my vote goes to my directory http://www.devwebdirectory.com/submit.php it has Annual Pricing and Permanent Pricing options and also deeplinks
he asked url and i replied. if i told dmoz.org alive or one of popular it wouldnt be spam correct? double standard...
With a good directory script, most important features that a submit page should have are already on. The rest, is the design & some other minor ads from MODs probably. A good submit page, is the one who is simple & useful enough to make the submission process smooth & pleasant. You can additionally have a coupon mod, deep links, hmmm ... what else ? maybe a good SPAM guard... and that's it. The quality of the directory makes the conversion, not the greatness of the submit page. I told you, I don't care about it. Mine is simple enought... and pretty basic as most are.
@Hyper Thanks for your opinion. I agree with most things except that it's not important. Let's say your site is a funnel; regardless of what edge at the wide top they came in they eventually MUST go through that 1 PAGE in order to complete a listing(bottom of funnel). It's the only 1 page that absolutely everyone who submits must see so I think it is important. Your site is like your sales pitch; your submission page is the closer. Thanks for your input
When I said that it is not that important I was referring to the complexity of it. I use phpLD for example and the submit page is simple & usefull enough. There is no need to add other extra features to it what could probably screw it. I am sure that if I will try to make it better, I dunno what else I could bring new, to help the submitter, and to make me feel proud In my case I just added the deep links mod, nothing more.
You mean to add some youtube videos or dj music to the submit page or fancy glitters? LMAO a simple submission page is enough.
If I'll add a youtube clip with a hot chick shaking her ass on the submit page, probably the submitter will complete the forms after the php session will expire(because he saw firstly the movie) and he will get mad, OR he will probably have a handjob... and what about completing the payment ?
now maybe a hot man and I might consider going thru with the submission # and as far as the submission page goes KIS method is best but I also agree with hyper about any coupons you have
matrixsoftwarez: I don't necessarily agree with you about cicsb No special thing about this submit page. I wouldn't say that submit page is a lot more important then other pages but sure it gets maximum number of hits. Have you guys seen submit.html pages from iEntry websites They have copied almost all phpld (and maybe other scripts) templates and have made 100s of directories. But their submit page is the most simple, enter your URL and don't forget to enter your e-mail because that's the more important thing for them I would love to see some really good submit pages on this thread.
i think the guy who started this thread is talking best submission page in terms of design not convinience.
No good having a spaced out submit page if you cant use it, function and ease of use must be priority one, not glitz n bits
Yes. I know.. Did you see the smiley and I am sorry if you couldn't get my sarcasm about iEntry websites. And yes.. there is nothing special about cicsb's submit page design
