Best Directory Designs

Hello all,

I would love you to Post 3 of your Favorite Directory Designs.

My favorites desings, i like one other but not remembering its url at the moment.

1st : Alive

2nd : Dir Journal

3rd : Authority Directory.


Please post your favorites.

 

The first one is very expensive as well.
Except for aesthetically pleasant a directory should be easy to navigate and sites should be easy to submit as well.

Assuming I would like to start a directory for myself (which I haven't done yet), what would I need to do and what software would I have to use?

Where would I get good designs or how could I create them?

cBravo.com does not have a unique designs. 10 other sites have the same design as it is a premium template by allphpLD and it cost i think 15 or 25$ ... so i guess that eliminates the list.


maybe keep it to the unique design just for that site ?



btw: @nextdir .... your site's search box is not coming up clear in IE 7 ... maybe take a look

 

I know I have seen a few other sites with that same type template as cBravo - I just like the way the colors blend together. Unique or not it is one of my favorites just for the color scheme.

 

I think www.h-log.com will beat down any directory design so far . Muaahaa

But thats just me (my fav. directory design is the topic anyways), other name that comes to my mind is www.sbclansite.com lolz.

Come on aviva ,its thing of the past ? Even stoners directory looks better, www.wowdirectory.com

 

Will check it in IE7 thanks for pointing, works fine on IE6 and Firefox though.

Actually design is controled via CSS <div> no tables for design thats why it took me alot, and still working on it.

I have a good theme at hosttheinternet.com which is free ! There are loads of good, well coded themes around without the need for paying money...unless you want it to be unique of course !

 

I'd vote for http://www.theredtree.com and http://www.nextdir.com

Probably the best change for a christmas theme that ive seen on a directory so far, usually its just something like snow sitting on top of the logo and a santa hat falling off the end.

 

To be frank stoner should really remove that front page, cause it makes site so confusing while browsing a category, you hit home and you see totally different page, it leads to confusion to be frank, and one should not be lazy enough to just have different front page even if its only for holiday season. If they want to make change for holiday season they need to make change to entire directory so that the left hand does not look different than the right hand sort of speaking.

 

I see what you mean, i thought it was sitewide.

 

Alive's design is just fantastic in my opinoin

I really like the design on DirJournal and the next will be Alive, I really don't know... But I can keep looking at that site for all day long.
