Best directories

OK, let's say that someone want to submit his/her site to let say approx. 20 directories manually. Probably he/she wants directories from whom you got something.

Off course, dmoz.org and dir.yahoo.com is first place.

I've found a list of directories and did their PR calculation and did
grep -E '9|8|7|6|5' directories.txt

Are there some directories which actually could bring traffic? (what is more important than PR).

 

Well PR is not so important but SERPs position i think is the most important thing ...

 

i have checked all of them: 50% is crap... but you will still get one way back links...

None is free.

 

He didn't say they should be free.

I think there are very few above PR3 that are totally free.

For a directory PR is important, because the higher it is, the more paid subscriptions it gets, or free, whatever the business plan.

It doesn't matter that PR is of little use for rankungs or anything else, what counts is that it brings in people willing to submit, and maybe pay.

SERPS position is good if the page you get on is ranked high, which is tough to say anyway prior to being included.

I think I know more or less what counts for SEO, but I am still looking forward to a PR update which should push my SEO Directory to a higher PR (hopefully )

20 directories isn't going to give you the coverage you want.

Also the PR on the index page of the directory really isnt that important since that's not where your link is going to appear. The PR is more important in how often the directory will be crawled and whether or not the page your link is on will be indexed by the search engines.

Use the seo friendly directories and submit to a decent chunk like 100-200+ that way you are gaining the main benefit for your keywords. Forget traffic as directories rarely ever send direct traffic and are more influential at boosting your traffic indirectly by improving your search engine rank.
