All of the winners well deserved it! Excellent designs.

 

they are all nice, but I would like to get everyone elses perspective on eonte.

what made that acquire so many votes? I analyze everything, to get an understand of what peeks someones interests, so please don't take it the wrong way.

great job balkanboy. i appreciate contest/opinionated surveys like this, granted I wouldn't consider them best 'ever' but definately wow is great!

 

eonte is tableless css design, which is not so common among phpld directories, I think.

For me at least, it has a very simple yet elegant look. The directory has a pleasing combination of colors which is very easy on the eyes, nothing over the top, and well layed out. It's that "keep it simple" feeling.

 

I agree about eonte. Sure it's simple and different, but Wow really is miles ahead design-wise. Maybe the CSS tabs got eonte extra points.

Something to consider...

 

Many dirs are like that. Other than wow there's nothing out of the ordinary with the other 2 imo.

 

I wouldn't say wow is miles ahead of enote. I actually like the enote site design better and kind of think that wow is a little over done. However, seeing that people like wow so much makes me want to get artsy with my directory designs.

Also, is there a list of who submitted to this contest? I'd like to see the other entries.

I think Eonte did well because of good colors combination and small details like navigation and bullets. I believe their secret is girl on the right that almost says welcome. This might be the case with Abifind too.
Wow is out of box and that is why it won, imo.

I agree that Wow won because its out of the box.. imho its a horribly ugly design though, i always wince when i see it. I don't particularly like Abifind's design either, the picture in the middle really has nothing to do with anything it could be used better. Abifind's design at least doesn't make me flinch though. Eonte is the best imo at least from these choices..

http://abilogic.com/ is a pretty nice looking directory i rate it above the 3 winners there.

I want to again thank everybody for their votes and support. I wish I could take credit for the design work but it was done by a very talented young web designer at http://www.stealthnet3000.com. I gave him the idea of what I was looking for and what you see is what he came up with for me. We gave it a 3 month trial and decided to keep it after receiving a lot of very good feedback.

 

Nice selection, eonte got such a nice design, it's balanced site and good in color scheme they deserve as best designed directory.

 

WoW is a nice design. But is hard to navigate and find information so not very user friendly.
