    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a dedicated server company that has worked well for them?

    Thanks.

Well, it depends if you're looking for a low budget company or a good company with a higher price :p.

Are you looking for a low end or high end server and do you want it managed (expensive, but your host/dc will fix all your problems) or unmanaged (cheaper, but you need to know about linux).

I use DMEHosting, they have some *very* cheap servers, they take a while to get setup and at first you may find a few small problems (one time I didn't even get a cpanel/whm license) but once everything is up it should be great. HostGator are also one of the best, even though they cost more. If you want servers, the same as hostgator but not managed, check out theplanet.

Though hostgator are reluctant to help you when you need to load balance, or cluster, Which in my eyes makes them not so good.

DMEHosting looks affordable, anything above $100/mo is a bit too much at the moment. When you say they are not managed - will they still fix the server asap in case of crashes or do maintenance such as reboots from time to time? Or is it totally unmanaged?

    Thanks.

Well if you do not get managed, They are still obliged ( in nearly all cases ) to fix hardware failure, crashes and datacenter end issues, Usually you will have the option to reboot but if you dont they should do for a small fee or for free.

They will do stuff for you, just they charge for it. Eg. OS reinstalls are $25 etc.

They fix hardware issues for free. You can reboot by ssh or in whm. They have a reboot ticket request, I guess that it is free, but can't be 100% sure since I haven't used it.

Talk to their live chat, you will probably get David, he is really helpful.

Lunarpages.com offer cheap dedicated, and the option to load balance, which in my eyes is rare for the prices they offer, and you know you can trust them.

Rather than suggesting best dedi hoster, I will recommend you to go to webhostingtalk.com to look for reviews and offers.

I would recommend esecuredata.com , for high performance data and the best prices I have seen so far. I don't know how to manage the server myself but i found another great company that manages my server for 35$/month, and I am very happy.

Softlayer is my favorite. I have 2 dedis with them. Most issues are fixed for free, but for premium support, they charge $3.00. $3.00 is the max they will ever charge for support, no matter how difficult the task. I've been with them for a couple of years now.
