What do you recommend for my site? It gets about 1,000 impressions a day and the click through rate is very poor. It is a PR5 site and I have put a lot of labor and love into it.

Look some ad placement tips on effective parts of a site that has high chances of ads being click. Also make channels to see which combination will work better.

Just play around with the background and test on it, this is the only way to get you result. You wouldnt get answer before try on it

try to blend you ads on your template and place those ads on a matter that visitors would likely to click it ;-)

I've done that a bit. Blended colors into the background and put the ads in prominent areas. I guess I have an anti-niche.

I find the top of your page looks cluttered, and the ads stand out too much. THey don't even look like google adds, remember its against the TOS to change the ad format. Have a look at my ad set up. Everything is blended and matches the content. Good luck.

Many surfers have what's known as "banner blindness" basically, they ignore anything that looks like an ad banner while they're browsing your site. Check these out.

If you want more information, just search for the term "banner blindness"
