What is the best CSS reference book that you would recommend to people learning CSS? I bought and read the CSS dummies however I would like to read a few more.

If anyones got a book worth reading and someone new like me will learn something from it please do post the name.

    Thanks in advance.

I've purchased numerous css books, the best of which were:

    1. CSS:the missing manual

    2. Beginning CSS Web Development:From novice to Professional by Simon Collison

both are under $50 from memory

    Good luck with your learning

If you want to learn CSS from scratch, or even if you know some CSS but want to learn more try w3schools.com.

I was just going to point that out. It is probably the best when explaining ideas behind CSS

    I'll add mine in : )

HTML Utopia: Designing Without Tables Using CSS by Dan Shafer and Rachel Andrew. It's also a SitePoint book but I have gotten books from there which didn't help me much, so I don't recommend books by publisher.

Not only did this get my feet under me re CSS positioning that I could learn further online (which is necessary, this book only gives the basics in my opinion) but the back of it is a reference I still use to look stuff up in.

Sits next to my computer at work at all times : )

Everything else reference-wise is bookmarked as they are online-- don't discount online sources, though I DON'T recommend w3schools. Bagger!

Unfortunately, a lot of the W3Schools material is old and out of date & doesn't include browser compatability info.
