thanks seolion appreciate that post bookmarked so i can refer to it when i make the change over added rep
that depents on what you expect from a cms . i have some complex portals with joomla and they work perfect . if you will make simple web site , you can choose wordpress but if you will make a complex and a big web site , you must choose joomla
I would like to use Wordpress on some of my sites intead of Joomla but for categories, i need to have a content listing just like joomla in wordpress (having only titles and these titles are pointing to the actual content). Is there any plugin to do this in wordpress because currently it also shows summary of the posts in categories which is not acceptable for a large site (not easy to browse previous articles)?
When you say "powerful and easy to use" you probably mean Joomla, you just aren't sure about that Which version of Joomla did you find bugs at? Don't yet recommend the 1.5 beta before it is declared a stable release. 1.0.12 is quite mature, and has gone through a long testing and debugging process. So it can be trusted.
I dont know of any ready made plugin, but it is easier to achieve if you can do a bit of PHP programming to turn the default category display to the way you want.
I have not yet used Drupal or mambo so I can't give a comparison. Wordpress can be customized upto a certain extend what you want a page to display. So far my requirements can be achieved using wordpress. Even I am working on a CMS project for an affiliate publisher. There are 11 types of templates, for category page, subcategory page etc, I am very confident that it can be done using wordpress.
id vote for wordpress. simply the best. but joomal, drupal and mamboo are also good. they just lack themes.
