Hey guys, I've been searching for about a year now and I'm frustrated because the site I'm maintaining needs a good solid CMS that will work how we want it to. I'm sure there are a lot of experienced people here that may have an idea what the best solution to my problem may be. I need this site: http://thecomiccollective.com/ to be database driven with comments. The catch is it has to be customizable on almost every aspect such as each article type having its own layout ect. I have tried Joomla!, it has failed so people don't suggest that one. I happened to come across evoArticles which may suit my needs but all download locations are broken. If anyone has it please let me know! Thanks -Axertion
Personally advice : Wordpress Now wordpress can be not even a blog or sites. It can be everything and pluggin a lot out there Find a good theme that can match your sites need and the sEO is superb using wp
as mentioned wordpress can give you a quick start but it's not a full blown cms system.. yes you can create pages but it does not compare with a proper cms.. i have a few wp sites and love wp for it's simplicity.. i also have a few mambo/joomla sites and though at first you get to enjoy it's simple architecture and coding once you begin to create bigger and complex sites it gets all too messy on the other hand I know drupal too little to recommend or disregard. I only have 1 drupal site but due to that I couldn't find much documentation on how to actually customize and make my own modules i find it a bit hard to start off.. as mentioned i have a site based on it and does everything i want (forums, comments, blogs, voting and so on..) but I still haven't been able to crack it and absolutely dominate that CMS.. (i really haven't put much time into it neither) finally, if you want to create a pretty complex site.. and by this I mean it will have loads of features, areas, event management, reservatyion booking, online shop or what ever you want to look into ECMS such as ezPublish. if u have php knowledge and have a bit of time to read all their tutorials you will see the power of that CMS. their must be a reason such sites like national geographic (france), us navy, museums and loads of government websites are built on this cms system now i wanna show off a bit.. here are a few i've built using this cms http://comunicalia.cometatech.com - local tv http://www.resa.es - online college housing booking http://www.molinsderei.cat/ - local city website http://www.cooltra.com - was involved only during intital phase have loads more developed so if you'd like more info just PM me
vivvo is expensive, i recommend joomla where there are lots of components, modules and a great community support.
