You should take a look at Ubercart with drupal 5. Pretty easy to setup and manage.

ZenCart is a Fork of OScommerce. It is slightly better to customize but it is not really that much better than OScommerce. Prestashop (prestashop.com) is a relatively new and fast growing shop-Skript (php) with a good community and good Features.
Take also a good look on the combination of Drupal (Drupal.org) and ubercart (ubercart.org). It is a real fast growing CMS+Commerce-Solution you can do anything with (my personal favorite).

If you like a very customizable store probably you will need ubercart+drupal6 or Magento , if you need something more light probably the best choice is prestashop

I will vote for Magento - this is the best e-commerce platform I've ever seen.
I admit, it's a bit complicated but you can create a really awesome site with it

No one mentioned Joomla and VirtueMart yet. They are one of the most popular. LINK

I would say ubercart + drupal6 or Magento. Joomla with Virtuemart isn't that good. I have build that in the past and its very buggy and the plugins are not worth the money.
