i recommend that don't stuck only in CJ and check the other networks. To find a merchant which will fit for you, you need to try all of them (not all of them actually, check their reliability & continuity first)

I've also made a couple of $50 commissions from HostGator - for web design clients I referred over.

But I was wondering what's the most effective way to get more sign-ups...

Anyone know what the average ratio is - like how many visits you'd have to get to a hosting site in order to make one sale - maybe 100 to 1?

Good luck! Selling host right now is highly competitive. For me, HostGator is the best and then Webhostingpad and then Lunarpages.

I've got a friend that does CJ. He promotes Lunarpages and Hostgator. He does pretty good on both because he works in a weird niche that just so happens to require hosting to get going. So, he does consulting, and just has his clients sign up through either of those. Pretty lucrative business model considering that he gets paid to consult and then to refer. :)

Some free Wordpress installers do the same thing. They'll install wordpress and a number of themes and plugins for folks if they sign upp for hosting via one of their CJ links.

    It's a racket.
